Since our last newsletter in March, TECH CORPS Illinois volunteers are mentoring students at TORCH workshops, mentoring school technology coordinators, instructing students at an after school computer clubs and helping to set up a computer lab. Our volunteers also helped us spread the word about TECH CORPS Illinois at Comdex 2013.
Are you a TECH CORPS Illinois volunteer but not placed on any projects yet? Did you know you could also volunteer for our online virtual volunteering program called techs4schools? Planning is underway for WebDay 2013 this Fall and will involve web related activities (history of the Internet, web page design, ecommerce etc.) in different communities in the Chicago area. We need ideas to make this a fun experience for both volunteers and schools! If you would like to send in your ideas or would like to participate on the planning committee please email us at webday@tcil.org.
We are now accepting proposals from schools for our Technology Assistance Program (TAP) for the 2013-2003 school year. If you know a school that needs assistance, you can direct them to our website to submit the TAP application form online at www.tcil.org/projects/tap.asp (we can also fax/mail them the application).
We also have 80 Pentium 100 class PCs (great for browsing or for student computer clubs to learn refurbishing) to donate to needy schools. If you know a school that could use them, send us an email at support@tcil.org
